Removal of course fees for diploma and advanced diploma children’s services
5 May 2009
The Australian Government recently committed $60.3 million to remove course fees for Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas in some child care courses under a new National Partnership Agreement with States and Territories.
The initiative is part of the Early Childhood Workforce Strategy and aims to develop a child care workforce with high level qualifications.
New or continuing students who enrol in a Diploma of Children’s Services or Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services at a TAFEWA College or at Curtin University VTEC from 1 January 2009 are exempt from paying a course fee.
The initiative applies to full-time or part-time enrolments, and may benefit people considering a career in child care, or existing child care workers looking to upgrade their qualifications.
A resource fee may still apply in order to cover the costs of materials and services as part of a unit. Contact West Coast TAFE on 9233 1831
