Construction Trades

With the release of the government’s 2020 housing plan in October 2009, employers - both large and small – will be on the look-out for skilled trade’s people. In general construction, apprentices are involved in building residential or commercial structures, including the fit out and finishing.  The long term goal of the Social Housing Taskforce set up to implement this plan is affordable housing for all Western Australian’s.  The West Coast Institute of Training is expanding its innovative trades-based training to ensure skilled tradespeople are available to meet this challenge.

A qualification in a construction trade will lay the foundations for a very exciting, respected and well-paid career that can be used in many countries around the world (ideal for those who wish to travel and work).

Construction graduates will be on a pathway to gaining trade qualifications in an industry which offers many opportunities, as well as diverse roles from tradesperson to architect.
