For Staff
Who can join the library?
All lecturing and administrative staff can access all the facilities that are available to students. Please drop in to the library, email us at studentcentro@westcoasttafe.wa.edu.au or call to have your details added to the system.
How many items can you borrow?
Staff may borrow up to 15 items at one time.
How long for?
Most Items including toys can be borrowed for 4 weeks, some items are on overnight loan and Closed Reserve items can only be borrowed for two hours.
Renewing items
As long as no-one else has requested the item that you have borrowed, you may renew it twice by phone or email or in person at the inquiry desk.
Reservations
If an item you require is on loan, you may reserve it by placing a hold on it. This can be done via the catalogue, or by a staff member at the inquiry desk.
New items
We welcome suggestions for purchase from staff members, and we regularly circulate publishers’ flyers and other information to relevant areas.
Inter-library loans
We can borrow material for staff members from libraries Australia-wide. Please contact us for details.
Reciprocal borrowing
West Coast Staff can borrow from any TAFE Library; Edith Cowan University Libraries; Murdoch University Library and Notre Dame University Library. You just need to take your staff card and proof of employment to the library that you wish to borrow from. Staff from these institutions can also borrow from West Coast; please bring your staff card and proof of employment. You will only be able to borrow 2 items from West Coast, please check the websites of the other participating libraries for their policies.
Library computers
The library houses a number of computers that are connected to the student network. As these computers are in high demand, they unfortunately cannot be block booked on a regular basis.
Equipment
Computers, video and DVD players are available for use in the library. Only library videos and DVD’s may be played on library equipment. Headphones are available on two hour loan at the front desk.
Digital video cameras, digital still cameras, digital voice recorders and iPods’ are available for loan; you just need to fill in a Loan Form at the inquiry desk.
Overdue items
Overdue notices are issued and failure to return items may incur charges, including a $15.00 administration fee if an invoice for the replacement costs of items has to be raised. Remember, you can renew any item just by sending an email to the library or giving us a call.
Staff Induction
Any staff member, who is new to the college, can organise a library induction with one of our friendly staff. We will run through the basics of the library, the physical resources and the online resources that are available both for you and for your students. Contact the library and we will organise a mutually convenient time.
