Who can join the library?
You can join the library if you are a current student. Your student ID card is also your library card and your photocopy/printing card. This is issued by Student Services.

How many items can you borrow?
You can borrow six items at any one time. Child Care and Teacher Assistant Students are also entitled to six items from the Toy Library.

How long for?
Most Items including toys can be borrowed for 2 weeks, some items are on overnight loan and Closed Reserve items can only be borrowed for two hours.

Renewing items
As long as no-one else has requested the item that you have borrowed, you may renew it twice by phone or email or in person at the loans desk.

Reservations
If an item you require is on loan, you may reserve it by placing a hold on it. This can be done via the Catalogue, or by a staff member at the inquiry desk.

Overdue items
Overdue notices are issued and failure to return items may incur charges, including a $15.00 administration fee if an invoice for the replacement costs of items has to be raised. 

Reciprocal borrowing
West Coast Students can borrow from any TAFE Library; Edith Cowan University Libraries; Murdoch University Library and Notre Dame University Library.  You just need to take your student card and proof of enrolment to the library that you wish to borrow from.  Students from these institutions can also borrow from West Coast; please bring your student card and proof of enrolment.  You will only be able to borrow 2 items from West Coast, please check the websites of the other participating libraries for their policies.

Equipment
Computers, video and DVD players are available for use in the library. Only library videos and DVD’s may be played on library equipment. Headphones are available on two hour loan at the front desk.

Digital video cameras, digital still cameras and digital voice recorders are available for loan; however you will need to ask the loans staff for a Loan Authority Form which must be completed and signed by a Lecturer before you may borrow this equipment.

Computers/Internet Access
Computers are to be used for educational purposes and by West Coast students only. All the computers in the Library have internet access and Office 2007. Bookings must be made, either in person at the inquiry desk or by phone. You may only book a computer for one hour at a time. Students must abide by the terms and conditions of the college’s computer user policy when using library computers.

Photocopying/Printing
Your student ID card must be activated at the inquiry desk in the library in order to be used for Printing.  You can add credit to your card at the coin-operated auto-loader machine in the library. Instructions on how to use the photocopiers and printers are placed next to the machines, however if you are unsure what to do, please ask at the Help Desk.

Cost for both Printing and Photocopying is

A3 black and white 30c

A4 colour $1.00
A3 colour $2.00

Overhead transparencies can be purchased at the bookshop.

You are responsible for adhering to the Australian Copyright Act.  Information on the Act is displayed next to the photocopiers, or click here  to read about it.

Binder and Laminator
Easy to use machines are available for binding or laminating your work. Ask at the inquiry desk to purchase the necessary materials. Only material purchased from the library can be used on library equipment.

Scanner
A scanner is attached to one of the student computers. This can be booked at the inquiry desk.

Study areas
There is a quiet study area in the library, and several group study tables are also available.

Notice boards
Remember to check the notice boards situated in the library and foyer. They provide information that could be important to you. The notice board in the library foyer is used for details of second-hand books to buy or sell.
