Trades North Construction
As part of the Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow (TIIFT) program of the Teaching & Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education & Training, the Federal Government has provided $3.94m for the construction of stage 2 of the TradesNorth trades training facility adjacent to the Clarkson Community High School.
This project will provide the training facilities for the construction industry for pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and post-trade training in the mortar trades of bricklaying & blocklaying, solid plastering, and wall & floor tiling.
This Federal Government TIIFT funding will enable stage 2 to be built simultaneously with the State Government funded stage 1 which will accommodate trade training in electrical, metals, carpentry and joinery. The whole TradesNorth campus at Clarkson will be open to students at the beginning of 2011. It will assist in providing a highly skilled workforce for the residential building and light manufacturing industries into the future.
TradesNorth will be a modern environmentally building, designed to demonstrate “green” practices and draw on methods of energy efficiency, water efficiency and waste minimization.
The site has been cleared. Some existing mature trees have been retained. Native grass trees have been removed and will be returned for re-planting when the building is complete. (Photos - October 2009)
