Visit to YMCA College of Continuing Education

West Coast Institute of Training has a number of programs being delivered in Hong Kong in partnership with the YMCA College of Continuing Education (YMCA CCE).  The YMCA CCE is located in the heart of Tsimshatsui in Kowloon at the Salisbury Hotel opposite the famous Star Ferry.  The programs include the Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Marketing, and the Advanced Diploma of Management.  These are delivered by local lecturers in Hong Kong under an auspicing agreement with West Coast Institute of Training.

Each year a lecturer from the Commerce and Technology Division visits the YMCA CCE under the terms of the contract to ensure that the programs are being delivered in accordance to the curriculum and that the delivery meets AQTF (audit) requirements.  This year there was the further issue of brand new courses being introduced in accordance with the introduction of the new Training Package.  YMCA CCE lecturing staff needed to be made aware of the changes as well as the new assessments being developed.  Mr Murray Buzza undertook the 2009 audit visit in the first week of June.  The lecturers are very enthusiastic and dedicated and their innovative practices in delivering the material are, in turn, delivering very good results.

Mr Buzza spoke to local business people and it is obvious that the YMCA CCE programs are held in very high regard throughout Hong Kong.  The Hong Kong education system is going through significant changes and this, coupled with the high demand for post-secondary education, provides exciting opportunities for the future for the partnership between the YMCA CCE and West Coast Institute of Training.
